Hi 4th Grade Families,

Happy December! Tuesday, the 11th, we will celebrate November’s Energy Bus principle at our monthly assembly. It is hard to believe we have only two weeks left until our Winter Break. It is fun looking forward to all this time of year has in store!

Holiday Party

4th grade will be celebrating our holiday party on Friday, December 21st with watching out preschool buddies’ holiday performance in the morning and by wearing winter pajamas for the day. We will also participate in a book exchange, a short movie with popcorn and hot chocolate, and with silent reading time in the afternoon, starting right after lunch!

  1. Secret Santa Book Exchange Directions: Names were chosen and questionnaires were filled out, and passed around, by each student this past week. Please pick out a new or gently used book for your child’s assigned giftee, wrap or put in a gift bag, and label with the student’s name that will be getting the gift. Please do not write the Secret Santa’s name, as we will be guessing who gifted the books to us. Wrapped books are due Wednesday, December 19th (but can be sent in anytime!

  2. PJs for the Day: Students may wear their pajamas for the day on the 21st. They may also bring pillows to use to read their new (or favorite) books and to lay on during the short movie and snack.

  3. Holiday Party Needs: Though we don’t need any parent volunteers to help at the holiday party this year, as we will be having a simple snack of popcorn and hot chocolate while we read and watch a short film, we are hoping you would consider helping us by donating goods for the celebration. Please see our Sign Up Genius to sign up and help us make the party extra special and magical for the kids (see email 12-10-18).

News from PTA

The holidays can be a wonderful time for most, but there are some families that are navigating challenging times:

  1. Our PTA has created an Angel Tree for 5 of our Blue Heron families in need this holiday season. There are still slots left, so please consider becoming an Angel Tree sponsor by clicking https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090949a4a622a4fb6-angel to reserve your gift. Once you reserve your gift, it would need to be dropped off unwrapped and labeled (ex Family 2- Gift Card) at the front desk no later than Dec 14th.

  2. Seven year old Elijah is a 2nd grader at Blue Heron Elementary and on November 17th, he was diagnosed with Leukemia. He and his family are facing a very challenging time. You can read about his story and help support his family’s Go Fund Me page by clicking https://www.gofundme.com/HelpElijahFightLeukemia.

Thank you for all you do and for your generosity, families! Have a wonderful holiday and Christmas season!
